I am currently working with a large mining house in South Africa. We are trying to introduce a structured approach to the execution of the shifts in the Engineering Department. Key to this structured approach is an effective shift handover. I am introducing a shift handover agenda for the incoming and outgoing supervisors, and want to design a formal record of the information exchanged in the meeting. I.E. what information gathered during the shift will be useful to the incoming shift? Currently the shift supervisors meet for 5 minutes or so and exchange information verbally. In the event of a difference of opinion, or downtime incident, there is no record of the exchange. I want to use this record to facilitate an effective hand-over and a record of main activities and incidents that occurred during the shift.
I am writing/ designing a handover document and would appreciate any input.
