    Information from sales orders (WO) give number of products(items/parts..) and its important to see confusion for example element(part/item/product) doors support upper, info from sales order lines (WO lines)  give for example 20 pcs replacement for 3 years (its confused information, because on 7 level/doors 2 pcs was from level1, 4 from level3, 5 are from level 4, .....etc and sales order line DONT HAVE this information about products(items/parts) PER LEVEL - only TOTAL (from all levels/doors) and part number (EAN code ....) and this doors support upper is universal for any levels/elevator and its redundancy (DUPLICATE). My clients reject for reliability, this information is relevant for purchase orders and prognoses only in QNT and have stochastic cycles, but bearing and switch breaker is good information's.

    Its good idea!

    ADempiere is open source and every student/programmer or any other can change for own need, but its also community to determine what can/could not-on official version.

    I was re-program ADempiere for my own needs, and there is way how to add and MTFB, but its need to define complex fixed (enterprise) assets.
    1) example if assets is induction engine from elevator number 1234xy 

    Operational hours elevators (have- controlling electrical induction 3 phases engine 3 x 380V 3-25 kW) is time counter values in [sec].
    this information can be joined using SQL with replacements data collected from sales orders (but not all products(items) populate sales order lines)  

    -only can be take information from bearings (one bearings per sub-asset - electrical engine) 
    and replacement coils from induction engine/ switch breakers - only one products/parts/items per assets ) 

    sample for 3,7[kW\, 22[m] (7 level/doors/24 flats 100 persons) speed 1,2 [m/s] 20 [sec] up/down (+/_ load)
    apps 4 [hours]/day 1500 [hours]/year (100 persons x 2,4 times per day = 240/60[min] = 4 [h]/[day] )

    average replacement of coils from stator : 3 years
    average replacement of bearings 2 times per year  
    average replacement switch breaker (3 phases x 380V, 16 Amps Delta/Y) 1 per year

    (* for this sample I m not calculate servicemen-work-hours operations/ workflows)

    MTFB = sum operational hours/failures= 1500 / 3(2 bearing and one switch breaker)=500 [hours]

    (** elevator as assets have complex BOM - sales order are not 100% good for this calculation, 
    each floor have doors and safety device, doors opening devices/commands/controlers... etc and don't have information is this 
    taken/replaced from 
    1. floor, or 2 floor 3 floor or .....and this calculated values is not real, 
    only can be take information from bearings (one bearings per sub-asset - electrical engine)

    Downtown for  elevators as assets need to be in minimum, so best way is to change important parts at night every 24 months, information from history statistics data or other producer recommended work period.

    2) example 
    For hydro stations with all working period - constant speed (no frequency regulated speed) is calculation MTFB possible using electrical meter reading old and new values of [kWh] / nominal power of induction engine- for total operational hours and time and frequency replacement bearings or replacement switch breakers or copper coil replacement from rotor/stator  - for example. For hydro station with non constant speed and intermediate work - there is counter [sec] 

    On this manual way this can be pick from database, at that moment ADempiere open source don't have any automatically
    solution for this calculation MTFB, way how to do is step 1- issue https://github.com/adempiere/adempiere/issues ADempiere
    and explain what/how in step by step and present how this work on your local copy of ADempiere and if community see this benefit
    this will be included in next ADempiere realizes.

    Hi Ted, I have using preventive maintenance plan for 30+ equipment/electro drives, there is 2 jobs one standard and one specific based on statistics and reliability of spare parts

    standard job:
    every day 2 buildings with 2 or 3 elevator / every months with standard operation (check Speed Governors, electric engine, all connectors on every station, cleaning and oiling Elevator Rails and check doors/cabin) need 2 hours, distance from next building in day plan is 10(20) km, 

    non standard job : based on history records  (statistics replacement of equipment) I have using from sales order (work order) from ADempiere ERP systems directly from database using SQL from tables c_orderline which give me information about reliability of equipment (switches, electric breakers...)  and googled sql query for calculation dates, and forums.(ADempiere is open source so I can get info direct from database)

    On examples from all work orders, switch breaker 32A, 380V from Cet Ef business partner on building
    with average working functionality from 567 days its plan to be replacement every 1,5-1,7 years from history records
    and usage parameters (number of cycles, etc)
    For your problem my idea is to creating 'preventive plan' how to change critical spare parts (heaters/switches...) from 
    history records from sales orders(maintenance orders from 7-8 years previous period) for spare parts
    with small costs (iMaint systems as any ERP should have this information) - this way can save your time to replace this component when it happen in future.

Hi Raul, thank you for reply, just to extend above product/assets meaning - what is assets : first step ERP consultants need to define is assets and set-up ERP - in my above example assets=building and have (facility management - staircase switches with timer up to 20 minutes - for common lights, other circuit breakers, elevators with components .... etc) assets can be car with service on every 10000/50000 km, assets can be machines in factory ... etc and asset can connect to the costs.

    SQL command are very usefully and easy, other way is complicated iReports tools that can integrated with ERP Adempiere and re-build installation code for integrations and future reports using- but I have use this simple method SQL directly to the database 🙂

    most clients who have using ADempiere ERP need this information's, (example -for switch breakers is important work period (1,2,3.. years) with different power and so on)

    I m catch from SQL oracle XE database information from sales orders/maintenance orders and I m select sales order lines, product, business partners, date created and I got return information from database about duplicate products on different sales(maintenance) order per business partners/assets and different created dates, and when date 2-date 1 < 100 [days]  this switch breakers from this producers is not good and purchase orders in future purchase process need to jump this kind of products.  I have more complex SQL query that give very usefully info about products and reliability. This is one of good side of open ERP solutions. (some my clients were prefer switch breakers from some XYZ switch breaker suppliers and repeat that technician didtn fix in right way this switch but after 20-30 incident with 30-45 days of replacement  he change this kind of switch breaker (220V, 50Hz 10A, automatic up to 3 minutes- for lights)

    for example, elevators are more reliable and easier to maintain than in the past

    For older models, there are 2 ways
    most critical components are switch breakers (380V 32A/16 A) 
    because older elevators have induction engines without current inventors
    with WYE/DELTA start wiring systems and reliability is the function of number run (count) call elevators  (frequency per 24 hours

    for 7 stations 35 flats 120 persons is from 240 (min 120x2) to 4800 start/stop average 563,1 +/- from houses to houses(assets/assets))

    2) total replacement  of induction motor wiring - the function of load elevators 
    (more loads up to limit load (up to 300kg - 4 big and heavy persons,  or 450kg 8 very big and heavy persons etc .....)

    and that is very probably functions, so our open ERP system  ADempiere
    give us pieces of information from databases about warehouses, purchase orders, 
    material receipt, MRP and maintenance orders/ manufacturing orders/sales order CRP and level of switch breakers 
    380V (16/32/64 Amps) in storage (warehouses) is calculated from Williams formula

    but for induction engines is 5 days (replace engine 8-16 hours-2 days, replace wired 1, heat 3 days and 
    fix induction engines 8-16 hours 2 days) - this workflows is for all powers (3,4,5,6,7,8,10,12,18 kW)  replacement

    from old to new is not possible (slip ring induction engines have big prices ).

    Its not so simple to build MRP/DRP/CRP and postgreSQL/oracle_XE database give very interesting results from SQL queries.

    May I add one most important feature - its database access as one extend option and functions - give new dimensions (for example I have using open source ERP ADempiere with libero manufacturing and looking every day at the database oracle/postgresql and UI forms to solve problems as standard work, and SQL give me all information's so database give to me ALL DATES and I know how, when, where, why ......etc and in this way I dont have 'black box' in front of my eyes, I have all clear information's)

  8. @Raul Martins thank you, its good to know SAP performances. Have you using any methodology (flowchart, BPMN, ....) ? On this yours examples, can be possible found and reliability for any spare parts, of any business partners, and compare performances (prices/ working times...). Current project I m set up need work order (maintenance order) for cars (15000 km/ 30000 km/ 60000 km - that is 3 type of BOM) its ADempiere free ERP system

    3 type of resource and 2 type of tools, every BOM have specific workflows (operations replacement motor oil: Auto mechanic should lift up the car an car workshop equipment, based on resource AUTO MECHANIC with setup time 5 min and duration time 5 min, next AM should remove stopper  and merge old oil 2/30 minutes ..... 25 activities) there is more then 10000 products (motor oil 10w 40 ....) input-ed from  purchase orders from supply chain management (SCM) located on warehouses. At the end I need sent link to my manager and he will input data in work order (maintenance order) so any costs for any cars will be sent to business partners (with one or more cars, for big organization its 20-30 cars) and all invoices and accounting and payment. At that moment I have not yet setup CRP diagrams for resource loading (there is 6 main and 3 external lines) . This is simple project I have  and not so complex.   9. I have using and programing ADempiere ERP and there is default workflow and can be modified upon real plant/resource

    Engineering Management

    First steps is set up resource manufacturing, Manufacturing workflows, products and BOM (Fixed assets) and formulas

    Planning Management (product  planning, forecast management, MRP, CRP, DRP)

    Production Management and Quality Management

    All information are in UI and in databases (oracleXE/postgresql) for extend of reports

    Information about work orders and reliability per assets/ spare parts from 3,6,9 months

    can be reports and product/BOM costs etc.

    I need 30-60 days for production set up in ADempiere, finally  I will create login username and password for my main manager to see costs per products/BOM and other reports using his own mobile phones to see real state and prognoses,
